Our Brewery Brings Home the Gold!

Around here, we toast our Brew Masters quite regularly for the tasty suds they produce on a regular basis – and we love all the great comments we get from guests and local alike about our Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company. What you might not know, is this little micro brewery in the mountains consistently beats other brewers on an annual basis!

This year they won a gold medal for one of our favorites; “Storm King Dunkel Lager”, in the European Style Dunkel category. This same recipe won a silver medal back in 2006, so this is not some flash in the copper kettle!

Great American Beer Festival competition winners were selected by an international panel of 169 expert judges in 83 categories, with a field of 3,930 beers from 526 breweries. The Great American Beer Festival is the largest national beer competition in the United States and is held every year in Denver. Glenwood Canyon previously won gold medals in 2009 for “Cardiff Double Brown” and in 2010 for “Carbonator Doppelbock”. The brewers are Ken Jones, Chip Holland and Chuck Campagna, pictured above with GABF founder, Charlie Papazian.

Storm King Dunkel Lager will be on tap at the brewery in December, so you will be able to judge it for yourself. In addition to award-winning beers, the brew pub has consistently won local favorite awards through the years, including Best Glenwood Springs Family Restaurant, Best Lunch, Best Place to Socialize… you get the picture! This is a happening place who’s beers have also been awarded medals at world competitions too!
