Skiing and snowboarding tops the list of winter activities and a hidden gem of the Colorado Rockies, Sunlight Mountain Resort offers more than 680 acres of skiable terrain for skiers of all ages. For a more intimate experience, relax with a beer and watch the snow fall from one of the 16 mineral hot springs soaking pools at Iron Mountain Hot Springs. Iron Mountain features pools that range in temperature from 99° to 108°F, and views mountains and the Colorado River that winds through the valley nearby as you soak and relax.

A hot springs visit is especially beneficial after a morning of winter activities. Escape the chill of winter and reap the benefits of submersing a tired body in the naturally heated mineral water.

Take in the Best of the Rockies

There’s no better place to get out and experience everything Colorado has to offer in winter than the heart of the Rockies. Try your hand at Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling at Sunlight Mountain, featuring 29 kilometers of groomed trails and multiple snowmobile tour options.

When it’s winter in Glenwood and you’re not a snow sports enthusiast, the Glenwood Springs Historical Society may have just the thing for you! A tourist favorite is the Doc Holliday Museum in the heart of downtown Glenwood Springs at 732 Grand Avenue. The museum location is in the same place where the Hotel Glenwood once operated and where Doc passed in 1887.

Visit the Vapor Caves

The Yampah Spa and Hot Springs Vapor Caves have been in continuous operation since 1893 and takes advantage of the hot mineral waters and the natural sulphur, nitrate, zinc, potassium and dozens of other therapeutic minerals to the benefit spa clients. The natural geothermal mineral baths are a great activity for couples. The Spa is open year-round and is a fantastic way to escape the winter weather.

The vapor Caves are near the Hot Springs Pool, within walking distance to The Hotel Denver. Once you’ve wrapped up your spa exerience, head back over to your cozy room at the Hotel Denver for a quiet night in the heart of the city.
